About Our Sheep
The Full Story
At Baker Farm, we raise, breed, and show NASSA Registered Shetland Sheep and Registered Gulf Coast Native Sheep—both heritage, dual-purpose breeds. While these sheep can be used for meat, our focus in raising them is producing exceptional fiber in a variety of natural colors and patterns.
Our sheep are shorn once a year in the spring, and most of their fleece is sent to a small fiber mill to be crafted into 100% wool yarn and roving. For handspinners and fiber artists, we also offer raw fleeces for sale. We are proud participants in the Shave ‘Em to Save ‘Em initiative through The Livestock Conservancy. Pick up some fiber or yarn from these rare breeds—and don’t forget your passport sticker!
Due to local demand, we have also began expanding into a small flock of meat sheep. We will hopefully have a small amount of meat sheep available for purchase as early as fall 2026.
